Artists Bay ("we", "us", "our") operates artistsbay.org. This page explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and optional profile details (city, discipline, bio). This is the minimum needed to provide you with a personalized experience, save grants, and send email alerts you've opted into.
When organizations submit opportunities via our public form, we collect the submitter's name, email, organization name, and opportunity details. This is used solely for moderation and listing purposes.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and does not use cookies, does not track individual users, and does not collect personal information. It provides us with aggregate page view counts only.
Your identity filters — including race, gender, citizenship, age, mediums, and any other eligibility data — are stored exclusively on your device. They never leave your browser and never reach our servers. We structurally cannot read, store, or share this information because we never receive it. The matching engine runs entirely in your browser using publicly available grant criteria. Even if our database were breached, there would be no identity data to expose — because we don't have it.
We do not collect identity information (race, gender, disability status, immigration status), payment information, social security numbers, government IDs, or any other sensitive personal data. We do not use tracking cookies. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your email is used to: send password reset links if you request one, send weekly grant digest emails if you opt in, and contact you about your account if necessary. Your basic profile information (name, city, discipline) is used to personalize your experience.
We only send emails you've opted into. You can disable the weekly digest at any time from your profile settings. We will never send marketing emails to addresses collected through the opportunity submission form without separate consent.
Account data (email, name, saved grants) is stored on servers in the United States via Fly.io. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. All connections to our site are encrypted via HTTPS. Your eligibility filters are stored in your browser's local storage and are never transmitted to our servers.
When you claim a free entry through our giveaway system, we record which entries you've claimed to prevent duplicate claims. This information is not shared with the sponsoring organization unless you choose to use the entry code they provide.
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing info@cweird.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request its deletion.
Artists Bay is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
